Being involved in the Saugerties community, he volunteered in various youth athletic leagues as a coach. Mr. Gage was also active with St. Mary of the Snow in Saugerties; he served as a trustee, past president of the Holy Name Society, and past member of the Confirmation Retreat Team.
Between Mr. Gage’s commitment to excellence in customer service and the many ties he has to the Saugerties community, he is a welcomed asset to the Sawyer Savings Bank team.
Mr. VanDerbeck, a 1991 graduate of Saugerties High School, earned a Masters in Accountancy from Bentley College with distinction; worked 10 years for a big 4 CPA firm, working his way up to senior manager; and for the past 8 years has been a shareholder in the accounting firm of PKHB CPAs leading PKHB’s auditing practice and quality control program. PKHB has 6 offices from Albany to Kingston, two in Ulster County.
Matthew has had the opportunity to service various start-up and international businesses, individuals, non-profits and governmental organizations in Albany, New York City and throughout the Hudson Valley. Matthew has also been a member of NY State Society of Public Accountants’ peer review committee that oversees the quality of his profession.
Matthew’s business acumen, experience with both internal and external auditing of other banks, and focus on customer service are expected to be valuable to the Bank and to our community.
